Common Questions

Before Your First Call

How quickly can I be seen for a consultation?

As a concierge practice, we prioritize expedited access — particularly for complex cases and surgical patients. Following your inquiry, our team will contact you within one business day. For urgent referrals, please call (980) 771-0726 directly and identify your case as time-sensitive.

Does Dr. Stepp accept insurance?

Dr. Stepp operates as an out-of-network, concierge surgical practice — with no required monthly or yearly membership fees. Payment is due at the time of service. We provide detailed superbill documentation for potential out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance carrier. This model allows Dr. Stepp to provide the unhurried, expert-level care that your case deserves — without the volume constraints of the insurance system.

What should I bring or prepare for my first consultation?

We welcome any available records that help contextualize your case — prior operative reports, imaging (MRI, ultrasound, CT), pathology reports, and a current medication list. Complex cases often benefit from a timeline of prior treatments and surgical attempts. Our consultation time is unhurried; there is no need to condense your history. If you are uncertain what to bring, our team will guide you when we call to confirm your appointment.

I live outside Charlotte. Can Dr. Stepp still help me?

Yes. Dr. Stepp regularly sees patients from across North and South Carolina, nationally, and internationally — including patients from Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. Our Travel Concierge program assists out-of-town patients with scheduling, surgical logistics, and post-operative care coordination. Please indicate that you are a traveling patient in your inquiry form or when you call us at (980) 771-0726.

I am a physician. How do I refer a patient to Dr. Stepp?

Referring physicians may call the dedicated provider referral line at (980) 223-4666, or fax referral documentation to (704) 800-4882. Dr. Stepp accepts referrals for complex pelvic surgery, endometriosis excision, Bartholin's gland disease, pelvic organ prolapse, urogynecology, mesh complication revision, and cosmetic gynecology — from physicians throughout the Carolinas and nationally.
